In a recent soul healing session with a client, God shared a powerful message through me that began with, “Stop listening to guilt.” Here are the Divine’s amazing words on why listening to guilt is often a trap:
Learn to stop listening to guilt. You, as well as many other people, especially women – but sometimes men – have an unhealthy relationship with guilt. You have been told through your upbringing, societal norms and messages, that when guilt shows up, you need to listen. And you have been taught that if you do something and it makes you feel guilty, that is a sure sign that you should not do it. That only works if you have a healthy relationship with guilt.
The purpose of guilt
The purpose of guilt is to keep the species from annihilating itself. Thus, if you beat someone up, you feel remorse. Or if you failed to do something that could save someone’s life, you would experience remorse and a rethinking of what you did, followed by a different choice next time.
Guilt is here because, as a species, you need each other to survive. Guilt was given as a gift to keep you on course and on track. Yet the species has taken the gift of guilt and made it into a punishment or consequence. Guilt has become something that you must listen to and adhere to its rules.
Guilt is a dictator
The unhealthy manner in which you interact with guilt interferes with your ability to intuit what is best for you in the moment because guilt is the dictator.
Your true self knows what is best and does not dictate. It generously and joyously offers up the opportunity to deepen your connection to yourself, to become more of who you truly are underneath the ego, wounds, conditioning, and guilt.
Thus it is imperative that you learn to recognize the presence of guilt as a red flag. If you are feeling guilty, you need to look deeper. There is a strong potential that in feeling guilty, you are being misguided, misled, and misaligned. Through feeling guilty and choosing what guilt demands of you, you are being led astray and you are not taking care of yourself.
For many, including you, guilt has become a reminder that others are more important and making yourself important is bad, wrong, and damaging. Yet if you cannot make yourself important, you will not take care of yourself. The opposite of a guilt-ridden life is a self-caring, balanced life.
You see guilt as a dictator of your thoughts and actions and you must listen to it and abide by its decrees because guilt sees all and knows all. Guilt has become a god of sorts and you bow to its demands.
Remember the operative question: What do I choose if I choose from love? Choosing from love and choosing from guilt almost always provide you different answers.
Yes, there are times when guilt is appropriate. Each person can be thoughtless and every one can do something that unintentionally hurts another. In those cases, guilt can be appropriate and healthy.
Stop listening to guilt
But 90% of the guilt that you experience is inappropriate, unhealthy, and damaging to you. If you continue to listen to guilt as your primary motivator and primary source of “intuition”, you will lose yourself because guilt prevents you from: accessing your own truth, touching the depths of your being, and living as the truth of who you are.
You must learn to stop listening to guilt. Instead of bowing to the dictates of guilt, learn to use the presence of guilt as an indicator that you are probably being led astray. To live as the truth of who you are, you must learn to love yourself, speak from your true essence, and choose from self-love.
The more I practice choosing from love, the easier it is to recognize the voice of guilt and stop listening to it. This has freed me from making many choices that would be detrimental to me.
I encourage you to practice what the Divine shared in this message. You too may be surprised to find how liberating it is to stop listening to guilt.
