Love Yourself First

One of the most shocking things the Divine said to me throughout our dialogues was: Love yourself first with Divine love.

This was the crux of the answer I received when I asked the Divine how I could get out of my own way. Here are God’s words to me:

You are all in your own way because you don’t love yourselves unconditionally. To get out of your way, you must learn to love yourself unconditionally.

---

This sounded like a tall order to me, so I asked, “How can we love ourselves unconditionally?”

The best way to do this is to tap into Divine love and love yourself with it. Divine love is the only love that is the fabric of freedom.

When you love yourself this way, it melts all the resistance you have to fully being you. Most of you have a lot of resistance. But when the resistance melts, you allow your powerful light to shine as a beacon for those in the darkness of non-love.

Love yourself first with Divine love.

The idea that we should love ourselves first was contrary to what I had been taught my whole life.  I asked the Divine, “Are you saying to all of us: You should love yourself first?”

Yes, but you can’t do this from ego. Until you move beyond ego, even for a minute, you can’t love yourself this way because ego doesn’t know this kind of love. Learn to love yourself first without ego.

Wanting to know more, I asked, “How can you love yourself first without ego?”

Saturate yourself with Divine love and reflect it first inward to yourself and then outward to the world. This eliminates all self-loathing and violence towards self and others. Are you willing to do this?

My response was somewhat non-committal: “I’m willing to try.” The Divine had a few things to say about that.

There is no trying. Simply connect with us every day in meditation and prayer and receive our Divine love and Divine gifts. We are here with you always. You must learn to receive first and then do. We love you and honor you.

The words, “Love yourself first with Divine love” have made a big impact on my life. The Divine has since elaborated on how we can love ourselves first with Divine love and why this is vitally important to God.
